The TOTAL is all that matters
by: Kerri Knox, RN- The Immune Queen!

Hi Candice,

So the only thing that you are interested in the the Vitamin D Total. You are at 28 ng/ml which is deficient, but not horribly so. It is DEFINITELY something that you want to take care of by doing what is suggested on the Vitamin D Deficiency Treatment page.

But make sure that you use Vitamin D3 Supplements and not the Prescription Vitamin D that your doctor MIGHT be tempted to give you (if he even would be inclined to treat a level of 28 ng/ml).

If you don't get any direction from your doctor as to how much to take, there has never been an Overdose on Vitamin D at dosages of 10,000 IU's per day or less, so it is very safe to take that dosage, making sure that you get a repeat Vitamin D Test done in about 3 months.

Then, when your Vitamin D Level is between 40 to 80 ng/ml, you can use a dose that will meet your daily Vitamin D Requirements.

Hope that this helped! Let us know how it goes.

I need help understanding my ZRT home vitiman D blood test results
by: susan M

HI,

I ordered a vitamin D test kit from ZRT off the vitamin D council web site. The test results were emailed to me. This is what was written...
330 H units ng/ml range 32-100.

I do not understand what my exact vitamin D level results is form this, and you interpret the results for me?

They claim that they give an exact vitamin D level number result and do not just give "within normal range numbers, like 30-100" Yet this seems to be what they did. the vitamin D test kit included a list of questions that did not seem important in relation to vitamin D. They seemed more like questions related to hormones. But the test kit was clearly marked as a vitamin D blood test. Is the 330 H referring to a hormone level? If so what does that hormone number of 330 mean as well?

Hi Susan,

Please start a new thread and upload your test results (blacking out any personal information first). I can take a look at it that way and let you know.

If you get my vitamin d fact sheet, that is a copy of the same test from ZRT and I explain how to read the results on the fact sheet as well.

It may just be an error if it truly says 330, and you may just need to take the test again. If you call ZRT and tell them the results, they MAY be nice and provide you another test kit if the one that they gave you tested incorrectly. Lab errors or an error in the way that you performed the test are common.
