It's probably not enough, but..
by: Kerri Knox, RN- The Immune Queen!

Hi Nicole,

Well, first off, your vitamin d level is only the lowest that your doctor has seen because he probably doesn't test vitamin d levels very often. I've seen 'Undectable' levels on occasion, so you don't win the prize!!

The other thing is that a 'Normal' vitamin d level is NOT 30 to 100, that is only what it says on your lab sheet, be sure to read my page on Vitamin D Levels in order to find out what an 'Optimal' vitamin d level is. You don't want 'normal', you want 'optimal'.

Next, if your doctor gave you 50,000 IU's once a week, I'm assuming that he gave you a prescription, right?

Find out why you should NOT take that prescription on the Prescription Vitamin D page, and why you should be taking Vitamin D3 Supplements instead!!

Next, your doctor's dose of 50,000 IU's is 'enough', but it will just take a longer amount of time in order to correct your deficiency. He's using the 'standard' Vitamin D Deficiency Treatment regimen, but increasing that to 100,000 IU's a week for the first month (using Vitamin D3- of course!)would likely get your level up faster, cause you to have to have fewer Vitamin D Tests done and give YOU more peace of mind.

Then, as far as doing irreparable damage- there is no saying and there is no going back in time to correct this, so the best that you can do is to get your level up to the optimum and keep it there for the rest of your life, and otherwise do the best to take care of yourself with plenty of exercise and by eating a whole food diet free of sugar, processed foods, etc.

I hope that this helps! And when you are purchasing your supplements, please choose to get your high dose 5000 IU Vitamin D3 Supplements here in order to support this site.

Thanks for writing and let us know how things go and what you decide to do.
