Return of H pylori

by Lourdes
(California)

I was diagnosed with H-pylori, and Rx antibiotics for the H-pylori, is there a chance that it comes back again after you take the antibiotic? Are there certain foods to take or avoid to help relief the symptoms of the H-pylori? Thanks!

Yes, H pylori can come back

Hi Lourdes,

The answer to your question is YES, you can get H pylori back again, especially if anyone in your household has it and gave it back to you. This is a common problem, even if the other people in your house don't have any symptoms, they could be carriers and give it back to you.

However, if you were not tested afterwards, you may never got rid of it in the first place! The failure rate of antibiotics can be up to 30%. In other words, only 1/3 of people who take antibiotics get rid of H pylori the first time.

So, your next step is to get retested and see if you have it using my H Pylori In Home Stool Test.

And I would recommend getting my book, The H Pylori Solution to see the tips and tricks you need to learn in order to get rid of H Pylori the first time, or in this case, THIS time if you have it again!

H pylori eradication
by: Anonymous

If I was retested after after antibiotic treatment & test came back negative for h pylori & said it was eradicated is there anyway it can come back? Maybe I am just being paranoid but I think I am gaining even more weight, having a lot of reflux & my belly is feeling very heavy & bloated.

Yes..

Yes, EVEN IF it was eradicated on several occasions, you can still get H pylori back. It's just an infection, so like any infection, once you get it, you are not immune to it. This is especially true if you did not eliminate the underlying reason why you got H pylori in the first place. Using antibiotics does not fix your immune system, it merely kills the infection.

In fact, using the antibiotics can make it even easier for you to get H pylori again since the antibiotics destroy the Good Bacteria in your digestive tract, which are responsible for your immune response. In other words, your immune system is likely LESS able to fight off exposure to H pylori after you take a round of antibiotics than BEFORE you took antibiotics.
