Anxiety after Taking Both Vitamin D and Fish Oil

by Martin
(UK)

I've noticed that when I take 5000mcg of vitamin D3 at night I feel far more anxious than usual, even a little confused. and not with it. I also get that response to fish oils, so is it worth me looking for non fish D3?

And I will increase my magnesium after reading this page though as I'm not getting enough for sure. Thanks for the easy to read information on your site!

Probably Rancid Oils..

Hi Martin,

Yes, do increase your magnesium as that would be the first thing to suspect when getting an anxiety reaction after taking vitamin d as I've outlined on the Magnesium and Vitamin D page.

But it's VERY curious that you have the same reaction with fish oils. I really doubt that that is the issue with your vitamin d because the VAST majority of vitamin d products are already made from lanolin. I tried to find someone a vitamin d without lanolin and it was NOT easy.

What I DO suspect is that, at lease in your Fish Oil Supplements and maybe your vitamin d too, that the oil has gone rancid and that is what is giving you a hard time. Rancid oils in supplements is a BIG problem and unless you use VERY high quality supplements- particularly with fish oils that go rancid easily- then you'll almost certainly get rancid oils or Polyunsaturated Oils that your body is not liking you to be eating.

So, for vitamin d, I'd suggest switching to a DRY Vitamin D3 Supplement and spending the extra money on a HIGH Quality Omega 3 Fatty Acid Supplement such as the Omega 3 Supplements that I offer on my site

If you get it in capsules, it's CRITICAL that they guarantee that they are fresh and of the highest quality, or you can get it in a liquid and that way you are able to smell it yourself.

Hope this helps...
