Vitamin D and Fatigue by: Kerri Knox, RN-The Immune Health Queen!
Hi Nita,
Yes, Vitamin D deficiency absolutely can cause fatigue. But make sure that you have a full medical workup to make sure that there is not another serious medical cause for your fatigue- as there can be many serious problems that cause fatigue.
Having said that, if your doctor has ruled out anything serious, then absolutely get a Vitamin D Level drawn. DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP!!
You need to know what your vitamin D level is in order to take enough vitamin D to correct your deficiency. Simply taking SOME vitamin D because you are tired will not be likely to help your fatigue.
Most people are seriously SHOCKED when they see how low their vitamin D levels are- and that is good to be shocked because it makes you more aware that you ALWAYS need to be conscious of your vitamin D levels for the rest of your life.
Simply taking vitamin D isn't likely to fix the reasons WHY you are fatigued and have vitamin D deficiency in the first place. Vitamin D deficiency does not exist in a vaccuum without other lifestyle and dietary factors in place that are making you ill.
If you really want to feel better, you need to get on track to make some real changes in your life. And to start doing that I recommend that you get started on Dr. Carolyn Dean's Dr. Carolyn Dean's Future Health Now Program. This EXTREMELY affordable program sends you a new module every week with a new ACTION STEP to start you on your way to health. Seriously, while vitamin D is AMAZING, it is NOT a magic bullet to health. Take a look at Dr. Carolyn Dean's Future Health Now Program and get healthy!
