Maybe, maybe not

Hi Susan,

Well, I'm thinking that you are a bit confused. First of all, periodontal disease is an infection of the gums and has nothing at all to do with losing dental bone.

While periodontal disease IS linked to a vitamin d receptor gene mutation, there is no evidence that vitamin d will help with your periodontal disease- although it isn't going to hurt it either and there are plenty of other reasons to take vitamin d.

If you are concerned about your periodontal disease, then taking a look at Money by the Mouthful is likely going to help you far more than Vitamin D is going to...

And as far as reversing your osteoporosis, it's unlikely that taking a couple of pills is going to reverse your osteoporosis unless you address the REASON why you got osteoporosis in the first place.

Osteoporosis is NOT caused by a lack of Fosamax, for one thing, and I URGE you to read about the Side Effects of Osteoporosis Drugs in order to be better informed about what, exactly, Fosamax DOES.

Fosamax makes your bones LOOK stronger on a bone density scan, but it it coming to light that it may actually make them more brittle. An analogy to this is that chalk looks MUCH more dense on a scan than a little green sapling tree branch. But the tree branch doesn't break easily because it's flexible and strong throughout- even though it's not 'dense'. But a piece of chalk snaps easily because it's brittle.

Fosamax has also been linked to a condition called Osteonecrosis of the Jaw, not a pretty thing. So, please educate yourself about Fosamax.

Also, you are missing ingredients of dietary change, weight bearing exercise and magnesium sufficiency- all critical to healthy bones.
