No 'Target' amount for kids or adults...

Unfortunately, it's not that easy. That's why I have this site- because the RDA, which is the 'governmental target amount' doesn't work for everyone.

Every person is absolutely unique when it comes to their magnesium needs and it would depend upon whether any of you - kids included- are suffering from any of the Signs of Magnesium Deficiency that I discuss on that page.

So, if one kid sleeps great, has great energy, eats lots of vegetables, poops without problem and is able to relax easily- then they may not need any beyond what's in her multiviamin.

But if you have a kid that gets constipation, insomnia, migraines or just has a tendency to be nervous or anxious then they might need more- sometimes a LOT more than the other kids. It's totally individual for every person.

So, just go by symptoms, just like adults. But also make sure that you read my page on Symptoms of Vitamin D Deficiency because kids need vitamin d too- and LOTS more than you think. And symptoms often don't show up for DECADES.
