Lyme and vitamin d3

by Julie
(Colorado )

I have had a very tough year , west nile first off and then tested positive for Lyme. Some of the naturalpaths and Drs. I have seen have warned against Vd3, saying Lyme doesn't like it and it can make me feel worse. My lab shows a vitamin d count of 18 and I have had panic and anxiety for the past 25 years. I am feeling increasingly worse with each passing day. It seems no one really knows what the answer is. Your web sight has lots of great questions and answers, the best I have come across, maybe you can help me?

Lyme doesn't like it?
by: Kerri Knox, RN, The Immune Queen

Lyme doesn't 'like' you being sufficient in a vitamin? Can they show you any research behind this? Sounds silly to me.

Vitamin D helps to improve the immune system. Any help with an improvement in the immune system should help you overcome Lyme disease.

It's possible that many people might feel worse with Lyme taking Vitamin D, but they also feel worse taking antibiotics, even though they are working to kill the Lyme. That does not mean that one shouldn't take antibiotics or Vitamin D, it may just mean that it is working.

So, anyone that tells you that being deficient in any vitamin is better than being sufficient in a vitamin really has the burden of proof to prove that they are correct, as knowingly leaving someone deficient in a vitamin is not and has not ever been ethical or the standard of care in any situation that I am aware of.

If they say that leaving you deficient is BETTER for you than correcting a deficiency, then let them show you their evidence to your satisfaction. If anyone CAN prove to you that it's better to leave a Lyme's patient deficient, please include their studies and evidence here, as I would like to see it.
