Safe for short periods of time...
by: Kerri Knox, RN- The Immune Queen!

Hi David,

Good. It looks like your regimen is a pretty good one. The 10 000 IU's a day, though, while there has NEVER been a Vitamin D Overdose from 10 000 IU's a day, taking that much for long periods of time isn't recommended because it is likely to get your Vitamin D Level into the 'excessive territory'.

So, you could take 10,000 IU's per day safely for about 2 to 3 months and then you MUST get a vitamin d level at that time!! It's likely that you will be fairly close to the 'optimal' Vitamin D Level range and then you could drop down to just one every other day after that in order to meet your daily Vitamin D Requirements after that.

10,000 i.u./day is safe!

Check out Grassrootshealth/vitaminDaction on the internet. It's a huge study run, in part, by Cedric Garland, of UCSD. 10,000/day has been found to have NO TOXICITY in anyone participating. It is indeed a safe intake amount.
