Diet Coke and healthy magnesium levels...an oxymoron?

I probably consume too much diet coke. My daily intake averages 3-4 sodas. Any amount is likely not good. Does this beverage deplete magnesium levels? Currently I have symptoms that present as possibly being magnesium deficient.

Thank you in advance for your thoughts.

Unless your symptoms are neurologic damage

I don't know if Diet Coke depletes magnesium, but if you only have Signs of Magnesium Deficiency right now, then you are lucky.

Keep it up and expect some wonderful symptoms of neurologic damage and/or chronic heart irritability. Aspartame is a NEUROTOXIN and you'd do best to limit your lifetime Aspartame intake to ZERO. By zero, I mean read EVERY label and don't eat ANYTHING with Aspartame- ever. Zero, nada, zilch. Unless of course diseases like ALS and Parkinson's in the future appeal to you.

Please read Excitotoxins: The Taste That Kills if you feel the desire to continue drinking diet ANYTHING or artificially sweetened ANYTHING....

Then, we can talk about the dangers of all the OTHER processed foods of which ALL of them are best avoided 100% of the time. I find it unlikely that you are drinking large amounts of Diet Coke, but you are otherwise eating a wonderful diet that will maintain your health in the future. Instead of a tune-up, it sounds like you need a complete overhaul...

Coke, Magnesium, vitamin D3 and canker sores
by: Anonymous

I suffered from Canker sores in my mouth for over 30 years....any time I drank a soda beverage like coke I paid the price for the next week with a painful canker sore in my mouth . I started taking vitamin d 5000iu and realized over the course of some time that when I drank a coke or pepsi, no canker sores! I quit the vit d for a couple months and the sores came back so I took the vitamin d again and in a few weeks when I drank a coke no sores....I thought it was the D3 but I have read that soda drains the magnesium from your body...perhaps the d3 helped me use magnesium better I don't know but if you have canker sores after drinking a soda try it.

Parkinson's from diet coke proof?
by: Anonymous

My Dad passed away due to Parkinsons and never had one diet anything in his whole life, rarely ate bad food, exercised every day until he could no longer physically. That was the cruel irony of him getting it. He drank water all day, did everything right and still ended up with the horrible disease. So no I think it is unfair to scare people with a Parkinsons diagnosis when they have no idea how it starts, unless you have some scientific proof that no-one else seems to have. I do believe if anything, stress deprives your body of essential vitamins and I'm a big fan of magnesium and these depletions lead to this horrible disease, but that is my personal opinion as my Dad NEVER drank alcohol and NEVER smoked. He was in an extremely stressful job which can be my only link to the disease. On the other hand, I agree, don't drink diet drinks. I drank diet coke for 20 years and had to stop because it felt like my brain was shrinking every time I drank it. It literally felt like my head was being squeezed. I had at least one or two cans a day. It stopped when I stopped drinking diet coke. If you must drink diet coke, please drink lots of water before and after, don't let it replace your water intake.

lots of what kind of water
by: charlie

We have all heard about the importance of drinking lots of water, but what kind of water? Water that has fluoride strips . Your body of iodine and causes a litany of heath issues. Do your own research. To water strips m minerals from your body, bottled water has over 25,000 chemicals according to recent research. Spring water direct is your best choice. Diet coke not only has aspartame...bad!!!!! But wood alcohol! And it makes you fat. Diet? Yeah right!!!!
