Can I Get H Pylori Again So Soon

was diagnosed with H Pylori about 6 months ago from my doctor and she prescribed antibiotics. I took the meds like I was supposed to. Now it seems that I'm getting the same symptoms as before. The question I have is can a person get H Pylori again so soon?

You may never have got rid of it

Hi SoSoon,

While the answer to your question is YES, you 'could' have got it back within 6 months, especially if anyone in your household has it and gave it back to you. This is a common problem, even if they don't have any symptoms. However, if you were not tested afterwards, you may never got rid of it in the first place!

The failure rate of antibiotics can be up to 30%. In other words, only 1/3 of people who take antibiotics get rid of H pylori the first time.

So, your next step is to get retested and see if you have it using my H Pylori Test.
