Vitamin D Once a Week- why not once every 3 months instead?
by: Kerri Knox, RN-The Immune Health Queen!

Hi Amy,

I'm not sure what you mean by a 'balanced intake', giving vitamin D once a week IS balanced- and actually unnecessary. It has been shown that giving it once every 3 MONTHS is just as effective!

But every substance has it's length of action. If I were to give you magnesium, I would want you to take it up to 5 times per day, because that's what's effective, but Vitamin D can be taken once every 3 months and you'll be just fine.

But really your question really shouldn't be 'Why is Vitamin D given only once a week?', but 'Why is my doctor prescribing me a completely inferior form of Vitamin D?'
