Fish Oil or Lanolin for best results... by: Kerri Knox, RN-The Immune Health Queen!
Hi April,
As far as I know, ZERO studies differentiate between Vitamin D3 from Fish Oil or from Lanolin- and aside from calling each manufacturer to find out how their vitamin D is made, I think that you would be hard pressed to find this out.
As far as I know, both are equally good and few people have side effects for either one. The important thing is that you take a High Quality Vitamin D3 Supplement in a clinically significant dose and do that only AFTER you have had a Vitamin D Level drawn to see how much Vitamin D you actually need.
And if you have IBS, you might want to check out my information on Gluten Sensitivity. There is MUCH research that points to Gluten as a contributing factor in IBS- and I find that the vast majority of people with IBS who go gluten free find great relief from symptoms.

how safe are Vitamin D tablets? by: Anonymous
I have read that Vitamin D made from fish oil may contain the same chemicals that make eating some fish unhealthy--mercury, PCB, etc. On the other hand, I have also read of the wholesale destruction of sheep hides because the chemicals used in sheep dip are so toxic that it is not possible to use the hides or wool.
How do we know that the Vitamin D from either source is not toxic? Which companies provide information on their testing to be certain that the products are safe? I read all the labels, and do not find this question discussed there.
You are welcome to call the companies by: Kerri Knox, RN- The Immune Queen!
If you are concerned, then you are welcome to call the companies that you are interested in and call them to find out if they do any independent testing on the impurities that you are concerned about.
We'd love to hear the results of your findings.
You can also now get a Vitamin D3 From Algae that would both not have lanolin and you'd not have to worry about any contaminants from fish based vitamin D.
