Taking Vitamin D When I'm Pregnant

by Zeze

Hi

I have been complaining from strange symptoms for long time, I went to many doctors and said nothing. These symptoms are waking me at midnights with numbness all my body and felling lost and sometimes I got palpitations!!! My hair become more dry, curly, and falling down!!! the condition became worse, I had musuls pain, dizzyness, brain fog, losing memory, pressure on my neck and and and!!!!

At last, I did blood test in a good clinic and found out the problem, I took my vitamin D for 4 months and become good now, but I become pregnant and my doctor told me to stop taking any med. exccept Folic Acid in these 3 months!!! I become disapointed to go back for bad symptoms. I started to expose to the sun from 15-20 minutes a day....

What do you think, can I take the vitamin D after three months or stop until birth my baby, and do you think exposing to the sun enough to bring my level up with no med."by the way my level is 52 nm/L when I checked at the first time".

Thanks a lot....

Do you want your baby to be deficient??

Your doctor told you to STOP taking vitamin d because you are pregnant?? What? Seriously?? Your doctor is an IDIOT and does not know what he is talking about. There is TONS of research that show that women need sufficient vitamin d in pregnancy to avoid having vitamin d deficient babies. Please read my page on Vitamin D in Pregnancy and browse the questions at the bottom of the page on Vitamin D and Breastfeeding.

Your doctor KNOWS that you were not getting enough vitamin d BEFORE you got pregnant. Does he think that you are magically going to absorb vitamin d from the air now that you are pregnant?? Does he not know of the dangers of vitamin d deficiency for both you and your baby?? Why would he decide that you are going to be healthier WITH a vitamin d deficiency than without one???

Yipes.. not a smart doctor.

Still feeling sick!!! and getting worse!!
by: Zeze

Hi Kerri,

How are you ? I hope you are fine ;)

I started to take my vitamin D capsules once a week two weeks now!!! and I take 1 tablet multivitamins daily. But still feeling miserable.... I can not go anywhere, high heart beat and always tired.

As I mentioned previously, I stopped taking my vitamin D for 2 and half month at the start of my pregnancy, and all the symptoms came again.

Do you think that my vitamin D level went down again!!! during this time!!! or my baby take what I made in my body " I take vitamin D just 4 months before my pregnancy".

My medications are:
Ergocaliferol 50000 once weekly
Elevit Pronatal "Multivitamins for Pregnancy" 1 tablet daily
Cal-c-vita once a day

Is there any blood test I have to make or wait for a while???

Thanks

You've only been taking it for two weeks.

Zeze,

You've only been taking the vitamin d for two weeks. It's not magic, it's a vitamin. You need to give it time to work and it might take up to 2 or 3 months to bring your vitamin d levels up.
