Should I Take Additional Magnesium & Vitamin D?

I stumbled into you great website. It caught my attention because I am "recovering" or "healing" from Fibromyalgia. About 3 months ago, I started taking Calcium Magnesium Citrate Plus D3. I noticed that since taking this supplement, my headaches is 99% better and I understand that this is due to the intake of Magnesium.

I am only taking 2 tablets, though, because in addition to this supplement, I have been taking Centrum Silver which has 50 mg of Magnesium. Altogether, my total Magnesium intake is 300 mg. I still have occasional insomnia, occasional anxiety, fatigue, tinnitus and imbalance. My aches and pains are almost gone. What is the right dosage of Magnesium that I should take? I am 62 years old, 140 lbs and physically fit.

I only eat natural foods. I have normal blood pressure; however, I am taking Anagrelide to suppress my platelets count which is now in the normal range. Should I also take additional Vitamin D? Altogether, I am already taking a total 900 IU of Vitamin D.

Thank you for your response.

Glad that you are feeling better

Hi Lori,

I'm glad that you are feeling better, but you are still WAY far away from my recommended dosages for health problems and can still increase your dosages to much higher levels.

Please read my pages on:

Magnesium Dosage

and

Vitamin D Therapy

and see the dosages that I recommend. However, you need to ditch the 'Calcium Magnesium' supplement as you'll be getting WAY too much calcium if you get enough magnesium, and Centrum vitamins are so terrible that I have a hard time even calling them a 'vitamin supplement'. Some even claim that because they have so many fillers and artificial crap in them that you are using up more vitamins than you are getting because of having to process all of the bad stuff in those types of 'drug store' vitamins.

So, read my pages, ditch the Calcium Magnesium, and the Centrum and follow the instructions in the links and read MANY of my other pages and you'll be a lot more knowledgeable about proper dosages and how to solve your health issues better.
