Every Reason...
by: Kerri Knox, RN- The Immune Queen!

Hi Cynthia,

There is EVERY reason to think that you would need more than 2000 IU's per day. If you read the Vitamin D Requirements page, you'll see that the dose that is recommended there is between 3800 to 5000 IU's per day.

2000 IU's is recommended for a 50 pound child!

And if you are still overweight, you may need even more than that. And if you are not absorbing it well because of the bariatric surgery (gastric bypass), then you may need even more!

And if you read the Overdose on Vitamin D page, you'll see that there has NEVER been a documented overdose on Vitamin D at doses of 10,000 IU's per day or less.

So, while it's great that you are concerned about overdose, most people should be MUCH MORE concerned about getting too LITTLE vitamin D than too much. So, get a Vitamin D Level and I'll bet that you'll be SHOCKED that you are still deficient after taking 2000 IU's per day!
