Overproduction of Vitamin D

My nephew-in-law states that he has a unique medical condition where his body produces too much vitamin D. He says that when this happens, it feels like weights have been added to his arms and legs. He states that he has to go lay down and take it easy until the vitamin levels go back to normal. I personally doubt he's being honest, as I have not been able to find any information about this. What do you think?

No such condition

Nope. There is no such condition. Probably what he means is that he gets sleepy after being out in the sun, which is probably due to a deficiency in one of the cofactors required to convert vitamin d. Getting sleepy after being in the sun is a common problem. But if he was truly 'overproducing' and he had to lay down until the levels went down, then he'd have to lay down for a month! Because levels take weeks to drop and not hours. So, it sounds like he's come to some incorrect conclusions without having the facts.

High vitamin D
by: Anonymous

My vitamin D levels are high and I feel like I am being weighed down all the time. Im constantly exhausted. Laying down for awhile seems to help, obviously it doesnt cure the problem, but it makes me feel better temporarily. You shouldnt jump to conclusions, he might really be sick.

Misunderstand

I think you misunderstood what I said. I said that IF he has true overproduction of Vitamin D, that he could not lie down until his levels went down, as that does not happen in a matter of a few hours.

That implied that he COULD be sick, as there is a condition of overproduction of Vitamin D, but one cannot lie down and wait for the levels to go down since that might take weeks or months. That was the scenario I was addressing, not that he wasn't sick, that he wasn't overproducing, and that if he is, that he might feel better if he lies down and rests.
