MCV 112 Blood Test

by Maxine
(NJ)

I have had several blood tests taken and my MCV results have always been high (112). My doctor put me on vitamin D3 (4,000) units per day and my MCV blood test remained the same. The doctor thought it might be my parathyroid but all of those tests and scans came back negative, what could be causing this elevated MCV?

Hi Maxine,

I'm not sure why you would expect your MCV to change with vitamin d or why your doctor thinks that the MCV has anything to do with the parathyroid gland.
