More Concerned about Chronic Deficiency
by: Kerri Knox, RN- The Immune Queen!

Hi Terese,

Unfortunately, I don't speculate on what doctors will take seriously or not, so you'll just have to find out and let us know.

In any case, wouldn't you be more concerned about the effects of chronic magnesium deficiency and the long term effects of your RLS than you would be concerned about taking LESS than the RDA of magnesium (a MINERAL that you need in your body) every day when that apparently solved a years-long problem that was completely debilitating you and ruining your life?

RLS and magnesium
by: Anonymous

This is in response to the comment that the neurologist might pooh-pooh magnesium resolving the RLS.

I've been through the mill seeing doctors who couldn't help me with a host of symptoms that were all related to magnesium deficiency so I no longer care what they think. And this idea that the RDAs for how much of a supplement your body needs is as foolish as saying all women are size 10 and all men wear a size 34 waist pants.

Go with what works for you, and don't let them intimidate you. If need be, take literature on the relationship between RLS and low magnesium levels to educate them.

I'm a magnesium waster so I take anywhere between 1,00 and 1,500 mg of magnesium a day. When I get RLS I either apply magnesium oil or soak in epsom salts. It's amazing how quickly soaking in epsom salt relieves the creepy crawly sensation of RLS.

It also helps control other myoclonic jerks such as sleep starts where you jerk and twitch as you're falling asleep. This is one of the symptoms I hate the most as it disrupts my life so badly.
