Fibromyalgia and Vitamin D
by: Kerri Knox, RN-The Immune Health Queen!

In my opinion, one should not be diagnosed with Fibromyalgia without FIRST getting a vitamin D level and treated for their Vitamin D Deficiency.

SO many people are FALSELY given a Fibromyalgia or Chronic Fatigue diagnosis unnecessarily because they really JUST have Vitamin D Deficiency.

And while there are other contributing factors to Fibromyalgia, Fibromyalgia patients nearly ALWAYS have low vitamin D levels and are improved when their levels are improved. Often, however, even when doctors DO diagnose Vitamin D Deficiency, they don't treat it aggressively enough and they conclude that the problem is NOT vitamin D deficiency, when they just didn't get the Vitamin D Levels up to the optimal range of 40 to 80 ng/ml.

So, get your Vitamin D Deficiency treated AGGRESSIVELY as even MILD vitamin D deficiency can cause widespread pain and fatigue.

"...patients with osteomalacia (from vitamin d deficiency) often complain of isolated or
global bone discomfort along with aches and pains in their joints and muscles These patients may be misdiagnosed with fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome..." according to one study.

Another study says, "A strong correlation between low [Vitamin D] levels and higher rates and longer duration of generalized bone and/or muscle aches and pains (often diagnosed as fibromyalgia) was observed."

If you look at my Vitamin D Research page, there is MUCH information there about vitamin d and pain, as well as vitamin D and muscle weakness. Vitamin D and depression have long been known to go together.

And what are the major complaints of Fibromyalgia sufferers: musculosketletal pain, joint pain, bone pain, weakness and depression! Coincidence? I think not.

While there ARE other factors at play in Fibromyalgia- like Thiamine Deficiency, Antioxidant Status and the list goes on.

Fibromyalgia, like the vast majority of chronic illnesses out there, is not some disease that you must suffer with forever. It is a fixable, recoverable, overcome-able problem that is caused by an interplay of:

* Nutritional Deficiencies
* Overwhelming Toxicity
* Food Allergies
* Hormonal Imbalance

Addressing these problems will VASTLY IMPROVE if not REVERSE most cases of Fibromyalgia.

Fibromyalgia is "Fixable?"
by: Anonymous

Fibromyalia is "fixable." That's a real shakey statement. I've suffered from Fibro for 10 years and have tried all of the nutritional and exercise routines there are to try and "fix" the fibro state I've been in.

So far, none have helped. I've also had my Vitamin D levels checked and was on the low end of normal (23) and have been taking 2000 IU's per day for months and I have had no change in the chronic pain and fatigue I've suffered from for the past 10 years which is now being associated with low levels of Vitamin D.

Fibro IS fixable...

I'm sorry that "nothing" has worked for you, but I seriously doubt that you have tried "EVERYTHING"! For one thing, you have NOT tried using ADEQUATE vitamin D therapy, yet!

If you were "low normal" vitamin D of 23 ng/ml, that is NOT low normal, but insufficient. "Optimal Levels" are between 40 to 60, according to some researchers, and as high as 50 to 80 according to others.

Many conclude that people who are suffering from a chronic illness would be well served trying to push to the higher end of optimal levels. And many studies on pain agree that even MILD Vitamin D Deficiencies cause pain.

And to top it off, you are NOT treating your vitamin D deficiency adequately. You are using a MAINTENANCE DOSE FOR A CHILD and NOT a dose to TREAT vitamin D deficiency!!!

So, if you already BELIEVE that you have TRIED EVERYTHING but you have not even treated your vitamin D deficiency adequately, then what else have you NOT TRIED??

1) Have you gone 100% Gluten Free, Dairy Free, Corn Free, Soy Free, Caffeine Free and Sugar Free??

2) Have you had your Adrenal Hormone Levels Tested and Treated?

3) Have you been Tested for Urinary Porphyrins that test for NOT ONLY heavy metals like mercury, arsenic and lead- but also for specific chemical exposures and been treated for any abnormal levels?

4)Have you had an Organix Profile done to check all of your detoxification pathways, your level of Coenzyme q-10, B-12, B vitamins, fatty acids, carbohydrate metabolism, ability to detoxify chemical substances, neurotransmitter levels and markers of yeast overgrowth infection?

5) Have you tried tried getting a Comprehensive Food Allergy Test from Sage Laboratories that tests for 130 different food allergies using 3 different techniques and Guarantees that you will feel better or you get your money back?

Until you have done all of that, you certainly haven't 'Tried Everything'!
