Vitamin D safety..

Hi Pam,

You pose a very interesting question, with a point that I try to get across to friends and family as well as people who come to my site.

Is 2000 IU's of Vitamin D safe? As my honey would say, "Context is decisive".

What that means is that, yes, Vitamin D will not cause you to become toxic if you are taking 2000 IU's per day.

But there is a danger.

The danger is that you are taking too SMALL an amount of vitamin d- not that you are taking too much- and without Checking Your Vitamin D Level, you will never know how much you actually need!

Most researchers believe that a healthy adult likely needs somewhere between 3500 to 5000 IU's per day- with adult males UTILIZING 5000 IU's each day- leaving none for storage if they are 'only' taking 5000 IU's per day.

So the danger of you taking 2000 IU's per day lies not in OVERDOSING, but in UNDERDOSING! If you don't think that this is important, then you haven't read the research on vitamin D.

Vitamin D researcher Dr. Michael Holick states Emphatically that if everyone were to have vitamin D levels within the 40 to 60 ng/ml range, then it could prevent up to 75% of breast and colon cancers in the world!!

He is not alone in this belief, and you can check out the Vitamin D and Breast Cancer Research that I've highlighted.

So I ask you, would you spend under $100 for a Vitamin D Test in order to Completely Remove one of the risk factors for breast cancer?
