She's probably deficient..
by: Kerri Knox, RN- The Immune Queen!

Hi Helen,

It's likely that your mom is deficient anyway, most older folks are. So, I'm glad that you are giving her D3 rather than D2- Yeah!

So, you can give your mom up to 10,000 IU's per day as there has never been an overdose at those levels- even over long periods of time. But if you wanted to just get it into her quickly, you can give her 300,000 IU's all at once and even give her another dose of 300,000 at the start of next month for a total of 600,000 before she gets her next level.

There have been MANY studies giving large doses all at once, and children with rickets that the doctor thinks the parents will not be compliant with therapy will give these CHILDREN 600,000 IU's all at once.

So, if you don't see her every day and/or it's just easier that way, it's a good way to do it. Especially if you have Sunshine Mist Vitamin D Spray.

Also, you might want to check out my page on Mental Changes from B12 Deficiency. This could be a VERY likely cause of her memory problems, as nearly ALL elderly people are low in Vitamin B12.

Vitamin B12 is VERY safe and you can try really high doses, like 10 or 20 milligrams (that's mg's- it comes in micrograms normally so that will be a significant number of pills). There has been virtually NO problems with high doses like these and if that is part of her problem, you could potentially see improvements in her cognition VERY rapidly.
