It is probably the Oil..
by: Kerri Knox, RN- The Immune Queen!

So, for one thing, you should NOT be taking Prescription Vitamin D for VARIOUS reasons.

But anytime anyone has any crazy problems when they take vitamin d, I ALWAYS suspect that their Vitamin D Side Effects, as I outline on that page, are due to the oils that are used in the capsule are rancid. And YES, prescription vitamin d could also have rancid oil as well.

So, anyone that has a problem taking vitamin d, I always suggest that they take a 'Dry' Vitamin D3 Supplement that is not packed in oil.

And this would be especially important for you to find a vitamin d that doesn't cause you to have these bad side effects because once you are done with the vitamin d your doctor gave you, you are not 'done' taking vitamin d any more than you are 'done' eating food forever because you had a big meal and you are full.

If you were so deficient that you needed treatment, then when you stop taking it, you are going to become deficient again when you stop taking it.

So, please find a good Dry Vitamin D Supplement that you can live with and get rid of the Prescription Vitamin D ASAP!!

50 50,000 twice a week
by: Anonymous

My d level was down to 12. Prescribed Vitamin D 50/50,000 twice a week. I feel awful. Swelling, heart beating in my ears, undescribable pain in muscles, bones or joints, discomfort around kidney area.

It is a little scary. Should I keep taking this? I had no pain prior to taking the D. I have had low Vit. D before but not this low. I went for a thyroid check as I have hypothyroid disease and that is when it was found to be low. Thank you.

Allergic reaction
by: Sherry

I started taking prescribed high dosage vitamin D in capsule form three weeks ago. I am 74 and thought acne was at least 55 years behind me. My face started breaking out after the first weekly dosage. I took the third pill three days ago. Every time I take one I break out more. And now I am itching all over as well and seem to be very nervous and jumpy. Yesterday I took an allergy pill for runny nose and itchy eyes and my face got better.

Just wondering if small 105 pound older females should not take this high a dosage. The dosage that is prescribed for weekly taking. I will not take anymore and see if that helps.
Would appreciate feedback if anyone has a similar experience.

Micronutrient Deficiency, not age or stature

Please read my pages on Vitamin D Therapy and Magnesium and Vitamin D.

No one should be taking prescription vitamin d, and everyone needs to be taking a 'dry' vitamin d without oil and taking it with magnesium and, preferably, vitamin k, vitamin A and trace minerals. I doubt it has to do with your 'frame' or size, but due to many other factors that are common to those with several nutritional deficiencies, regardless of their sex, age, or their size.
