Doctor prescribed 50,000 IU once a week, but left choice to me to take 3,000 a day instead...

What do you think? Is it better to take the large quantity of 50,000 IU's of D at once? Once a week for 8 weeks she said. She left the choice to me only after I questioned it. I suggested I do what was prescribed to me in the past by another doctor which was 3,000 IU's a day.

I am vitamin d deficient, after a recent test, which I was not surprised bc I have been in the past. I have currently been experiencing major body aches/pains since last night and am wondering if this is why...or could it be some sort of flu, as I didn't get a flu shot and I work at an elementary school. I've been searching around on the internet googling stuff about my symptoms.

Is your doctor unable to do math?
by: Kerri Knox, The Immune Queen

It seems as though your doctor is unable to do math. 3000 IU's a day equals 21,000 IU's a week, not 50,0000 Iu's.

Taking 7000 IU's a day would be 'more or less' 50,000 IU's a week. Why would he shortchange you 4000 IU's a day and give you the maintenance dose of a 5 year old child rather than a dose to solve an adult's deficiency?

Sounds like time for a new doctor and a trip to the health food store for the proper dosage of over the counter vitamin d to treat Vitamin D deficiency in an adult.

Ugh.
