Years of unexplained digestive and sinus problems

Are tests for gluten problems always accurate? I have had years of what feels like everything is moving through my body at a slow rate. It feels toxic. My digestive tract gets blocked up , my sinuses get so blocked they are like cement. My mind and thinking have slowed. I have muscle aches and pains. With no diagnosis. No sign of any actual infections. Is this a gluten problem possibly?

It started 10 years ago and is
just seems like its getting worse. My ENT did a allergy test on my back and everything came back fine.

Either Gluter or Lactose or Both

Wow! I'm sorry to hear that you have been suffering with this for over 10 years with incompetent doctors who haven't even tested you for gluten sensitivity! Ugghh!!

Unfortunately, your situation is about the same as most people since studies show that it takes, on average, approximately 10 years to get a diagnosis of gluten sensitivity.

First of all, it DOES sound like you have either:

Gluten Sensitivity

and/or

Lactose Intolerance

and YES! You can have both.

While your ENT was well-meaning, you need to remember that NEITHER of these conditions is an ALLERGY, so they often do not show up on allergy tests-EVER. Even people with Celiac Disease can have negative allergy tests to gluten.

An allergy test is the wrong test to test for gluten in the first place.

But even if your doctor WERE to have done the correct test, it might not come back for gluten sensitivity either. Please read my page on Diagnosing Gluten Sensitivity to see why your doctor isn't likely to find it anyway.

So, the best idea is just to try out a Gluten Intolerance Diet (and eliminate dairy too) and see what happens.

But don't attempt to start a gluten free diet on your own without knowing how to do it right. It is NOT intuitive and just 'going gluten free' without reading about how to do it will likely not make you gluten free at all- there is so much gluten in everything!! I encourage you to download the Essential Gluten Free Guide so that you know how to do it right.
