hi there, i have been suffering from deprssion for about 6 years. every time it gets bad i loss weight and can eat. i have been told i now have helicobactor. is this a cause of my depression? i have now been put on a course of antibiotics. will my depression get better? will my life style improve?

H pylori can cause a lot of different symptoms, and depression has a lot of different causes. If you have H pylori and you are feeling unwell, then you should eradicate your H pylori, but it may or may not help. I don't know, and no one can tell you for certain whether it will or not.

But also, if this has been chronic, it's almost certain that you have lots of issues going on. Rarely is depression due to ONE specific thing that you can fix and all your problems are going to go away.

But here are two other suggestions for you as well. Get my FREE Fact Sheet on Vitamin D that you see at the top right of this page and follow the instructions to get your vitamin d levels up to the optimal range. Living in Scotland, it's almost certain that you have Vitamin D Deficiency and have had it for years.

My second suggestion is to get the The Healthy Urban Kitchen and learn how to eat properly. Poor eating habits, especially eating grains and other processed foods, are HUGE culprits in many chronic health problems. So, learning to eat properly is a MUST if you are trying to eliminate chronic health issues and start to feel better.
