Vitamin D3

by Ellen
(New York)

I recently started taking New Chapter's Bone Strength Take Care.

The three tablet's a day it indicated should be taken contain 1000 IUs of Vitamin D3. It also contains 685 MGs of calcium, Vitamin K and Magnesium.

To begin, do you see this as a desirable form of Vitamin D to take? And, when taking to help combat osteoporosis, do you know when such a supplement can begin to have a positive effect?

Thanks

Vitamin D 3 and Bones
by: Kerri Knox, RN-The Immune Health Queen!

Hi Ellen,

I'm certainly glad that you have started taking some calcium, magnesium, K and D. It looks like a good supplement.

However, if you have osteoporosis already, you need to have your Vitamin D Level Checked.

It's VERY likely that your Vitamin D Levels are low and probably have been for years. And 1000 IU's of Vitamin D is the dosage that many researchers recommend for Newborn Infants!!

Test your Immune Health with the Organix Profile

1000 IU's of Vitamin D will NOT be enough to correct your Vitamin D Deficiency- and the only way to know how much to take is to Check Your Vitamin D Level.

It's likely that you could need up to 50,000 IU's of Vitamin D per week for a couple of months and then 3000 to 5000 IU's per day as a maintenance dose.

Yeah for you for starting to take Calcium, Magnesium, Vitamin D and Vitamin K. It's a great bone building combo. Be sure that you are ALSO getting plenty of weight bearing exercise (with your doctor's approval), it's an important part of bone building.
