I have been diagnosed with vitamin D deficiency. Can that cause shortness of breath and fatigue?

Vitamin D Deficiency and Shortness of Breath
by: Kerri Knox, RN- The Immune Queen

Hi Faye,

The first thing that I would want to know is "Why are you Asking?"
If you are having any sort of Shortness of Breath that is not your 'usual' state of health, then I would consider it an emergency and make sure that you have had a Full and Complete Medical Workup in order to rule out anything serious.

More About Vitamin D

Now, having said that, if you have had a full medical workup and have been tested for everything that it COULD be and the doctors can't find anything, then you can start thinking about things that your doctor won't.

Vitamin D Deficiency is not likely to be causing the shortness of breath, but could be contributing to the fatigue. Vitamin D affects muscular strength and so therefore its deficiency CAN cause some level of fatigue.

A more likely cause of your fatigue is many sided (again, this is assuming that any serious medical conditions have been ruled out).

Vitamin B 12 Deficiency is the quickest and easiest culprit to rule out. Simply take a high quality, high dose Vitamin B 12 Supplement under your tongue for a month. If you feel better, then it's likely that you have Vitamin B 12 Deficiency! If you don't, then you don't.

Overwhelming toxicity is another possible culprit. In our modern world, we have so many toxins and our bodies need to get rid of them, if we can't get rid of them faster than they build up then we become toxic. You need to:

1) Get rid of all toxic home products with non toxic home products.

2) Buy a Shower Filter

3) Drink only Filtered Water and make that your ONLY beverage

4) Stop eating processed foods and sugar in any form. Eat only organic foods.

But Faye,

There are so many other reasons why you could be tired that I can help you with. Some of these include:

1) Candida Intestinal Infection
2) Intestinal Parasitic Infection
3) Heavy Metal or Mercury Toxicity
4) Adrenal Gland Fatigue
5) Vitamin B-12 Deficiency

Vitamin D Deficiency and Shortness of Breath.

So weird. I have exactly the same symptoms going on. Tests have been taken and nothing shows up. I used to have a high Vitamin D count but it seems to have dropped so I had started to take supplements. I exercise regularly and diet hasn't changed. I am going to try your recommendations.
