Interesting Question...
by: Kerri Knox, RN- The Immune Queen!

That's really an interesting question. If you have your older vitamin d level when you were first diagnosed, I'd be better able to answer that question.

But until I see the numbers, it's impossible to comment because I NEVER EVER trust it when doctors tell me that a vitamin d level is normal. If you take a look at my page on Vitamin D Levels, you'll see that most researchers recommend an 'optimal' vitamin d level of between about 50 to 80 ng/ml- and anything lower than this can contribute to widespread pain.

Yet, some laboratories report the 'normal range' of vitamin d as low as 20 ng/ml- and I have had clients with vitamin d levels as low as 18 ng/ml be told that their level was 'normal' by their doctor. So, I insist on having my clients actually look at their numbers to make sure that it is between 50 to 80 ng/ml.

So, if you can get your hands on those results, that would be helpful.

"Normal" levels
by: Klaus

Here in Germany it's even worse: The laboratory which checked my 25(OH)D3 considers less than or equal to 10ng/ml "normal"....

It's crazy!

I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia 10 years ago was told everything was normal until receantly
by: Anonymous

today i have debilitating widespread pain,8 slipped disk, high blood pressure, seasonal depression, cold painful fingers and toes, intolerance to heat and cold weather, frequent eye pain and dryness, constipation, and bone and muscle pain, chronic sore throat strep negative, extreme fatigue, and shortness of breath.also thyroid goiter with normal hormone levels.

I have slipped spinal disks with no history of injuries, doctors has never seen so many slipped disk in patients and offer no explanations.MY VITAMIN D LEVEL IS LOW (10 NEED TO BE HIGHER THAN 50). My question was why do I not feeling better I'm now on vitamin D2 3 times per week.also can all this be a gluten allergy.

CAN THIS BE A LINK TO 2 EPISODE OF VIRAL MENINGITIS,AND MY SONS HIGH FUNCTIONING AUTISM.CAN THIS ALSO BE LINKED TO MY DAUGHTER RARE AORTIC HEART DEFECT?.

Low Vitamin D & fibro
by: Dianne

I always have low vitamin D levels and have to use supplements. I have been given the high prescription doses several times and it comes up some, but always drops back down. My Rheumatologist (I have osteoporosis and fibro, I don't have arthritis) has now put me on 4,000 Units daily for maintenance. I am a lacto-ovo vegetarian, however, so I do not eat fish. I would not have a problem really with the D3 coming from wool since I am not vegan except that I have an allergy to wool. Therefore, I use the vegan Vitamin D. I do wish there were another option.
I have always claimed fibro was a symptom of another problem since I was diagnosed with it, and said that I think the doctors just haven't been able to find out what it is. It was interesting to read what you had to say about that. I am also interested in the low magnesium connection and am going to try magnesium supplementation. I also have terrible ringing in the head that NEVER stops...
