Vitamin B12 for Vegans

by Francisco
(Lisbon)

I've heard vitamin b12 supplements are made from animals or in a way that is still harmful for animals. I really don't want to take any 'supplements', I'd like to take it naturally, like eating true vegetables that grow in true soil which has vitamin b12.

Is there any way I as a vegan can have a diet without supplements? And if there isn't, which would be a safe supplement, in terms of not harming animals, or not even having anything to do with animals? I hope you get my question.

Thank you!

Where does the B12 in soil come from
by: Kerri Knox, RN- The Immune Queen!

Hi Francisco,

Where do you think that the B12 in soil comes from? It comes from the microorganisms that putrefy in the colons of animals and get deposited in the soil through their feces.

The only B12 that actually comes from vegetables comes in tiny amounts and comes in a worst absorbable form. Our bodies are NOT designed to get B12 from vegetable sources, just like we are not designed to get our Vitamin D from Vegetables either.

Also, if you think that when farmers harvest crops, they are not hurting thousands of mice, rats, birds, etc. in the very damaging reaping process, then you are delusional. Go watch a grain harvest someday and see the thousands of tiny animals that are flushed out of the fields and killed during the harvest.

Predators like foxes and birds of prey surround the fields in order to feed on the helpless rodents and birds that are displaced from their homes. So, in fact if you are concerned about not hurting animals, then when eating meat, at least ONE cow was humanely killed for a dozen people's food requirements, but when you eat grains, tens of thousands of small animals are killed for each harvest.

But since you don't actually have to SEE that, it seems like grains and vegetables are a more 'humane' way to eat, when really it's just that you actually know that the death occurred while eating grains you can delude yourself that you are helping animals.

If you REALLY want to help animals and eat humanely, then eat beef because one animal is killed to feed many, and STOP eating grains because of the massive destruction of animal life that occurs.

Have a good day.
