Treated for H Pylori in late 2009...Still not well in 2016

Hello, My name is Cherie, and I'm 59 years young. My email address is: chercat@gmail.com.

In February 2009 I got a bout of food poisoning. I recovered quickly from that...but by early March I started feeling "under the weather." I noticed stomach issues, fatigue, just felt generally lousy. After going to my primary doctor, she referred to a GI doctor for colonoscopy and endoscopy. The colonoscopy showed I had diverticulosis. Everything else was normal. The endoscopy showed I had H Pylori and gastritis (probably caused by the H Pylori).

I was treated for that, and it was eradicated. The reason I know it was eradicated is I had a stool test and another endoscopy in February 2011. The reason for the repeat test is the H Pylori symptoms never went away! A few months after the H Pylori diagnosis (around March 2010) I called the GI doctor to tell him I was still having symptoms. He was no help.

All he said was 'well that's what happens sometimes.' I was in tears. Around that time I started having so many odd symptoms: skin rashes, swelling, extreme fatigue, numb/tingly feeling in legs, dizziness/unbalanced feeling, malaise, aching muscles and joints, headaches, raynauds, costochondritis, and more...

To this day (August 13, 2016) the only thing I know is I have Fibromyalgia (diagnosed Feb. 2004), and maybe Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. A Naturopath I went to said I have an autoimmune disease. She didn't know which one though. I need help. I still feel lousy, and I've never gotten my health back since all of this started in March/April 2009.

I had my doctor test me for Lupus, and that was negative. I wanted to be tested for Lyme disease, but can't afford the more extensive blood test (where they send it to an outside lab). Can you help me? I so want to feel well again.

Thank you.

Perhaps your food poisoning is something else
by: Kerri Knox, The Immune Queen

Perhaps your food poisoning was something else. When you contract H pylori, you generally do not get 'food poisoning'. It's quite possible that the H pylori finding was 'incidental' and had nothing to do with your symptoms, or the symptoms you are experiencing now.

It's also possible that you got the H pylori BACK again from someone in your household after eradicating it.

The next step you might try would be to get a full Pathogen Test, including H pylori, to see if you might have H pylori again or if you have some other pathogen that you contracted from the food poisoning that no one ever discovered because they did not look for it.
