How Much Vitamin D Should My Son be Taking

by Tracy
(Philadelphia, Pennsylvania)

My son's (16 y.o.) Vitamin D level was 11.5. The nurse's aid who gave me the results over the phone said that it should be between 30-100. She also said that the doctor said she wanted it increased by 1000 ml which didn't sound right to me and based on what I've read really doesn't make sense. I want to increase his Vitamin D in as natural a way as possible (via sunlight exposure, eggs, etc.) but if it must be through a supplement... how much? I'm confused.

All other blood tests were normal.

Please help. Thanks!

Confused Mom :)
