How do you treat H. pylori?

Hi Kerri,

I always heard that H. pylori was treated by antibiotics. Is that the only treatment?

Many thanks.

Antibiotics are one way to treat H pylori
by: Kerri Knox, Registered Nurse

Hi Sigrid,

Antibiotics are ONE way to treat H pylori, although not necessarily the best way for everyone. In addition, antibiotics can come with some serious side effects including superinfections that are actually CAUSED by the antibiotics themselves- and I'm not talking only about candida infections, but other infections as well.

Not only that, but antibiotic treatment fails up to 1/3 of the time. Some people even have to take antibiotics 3 or 4 times to get rid of their H pylori infection! Yipes.

In my book The H Pylori Solution I discuss the pros and cons of the different treatments and how to decide which one is better for you and how to avoid some of the pitfalls of antibiotics if you choose to take that route, including how to get rid of H pylori the very first time, and to keep it away for good.

I hope that you find it helpful, and I look forward to hearing about how you beat H pylori the first time.
