How Do I Raise My Vitamin D Level?

I take a 30-45 min walk every morning with no sunscreen. I live in San Diego. I take approximately 1600 IU's of Vitamin D per day. I take 3200 mg of Carlson fish oil a day. I eat salmon or trout about twice a week. My total vitamin d level is 38. What more can I do for optimum levels? Thanks.

Just take more vitamin d
by: Kerri Knox, Registered Nurse

Not sure why you wouldn't just take more vitamin d. Is there some reason why you think that you should not take more than 1600 IU's of vitamin d per day if you are still vitamin d deficient? Or expose more of your skin to the sun for longer? That's how we get more vitamin d, and so the only ways to get your level up.

Please see my page on Vitamin D Therapy for step by step instructions on bringing your levels up to optimal.

Getting your D
by: Anonymous

I’m taking 25,000 iu of D3, 2,500 mcg of K2, 800 mg of magnesium, zinc and vitamin A. Notice I don’t take any calcium! I get my calcium in dark greens. I also get an half hour of UVB rays on each side at the Solar noon of the day. In five weeks my numbers went from 32 to 56 ng/ ml. I’m also obsessed and 6’7". The bigger you are the more sunlight you need! I have cancer and higher levels of D3 helps in treatment.
