High MCV and hair loss

by Sarah
(United states)

I am a 45 year old female with excessive hair loss the past year. The only blood test result that was abnormal was an MCV level that’s been going up since the hair loss began, now at 101. My vitamin b is mid range 535, but not deficient. Could this still be from a vitamin b problem? Ive also been taking carbamazepine for over 10 years and am a smoker. Thank you

Yes, hair loss COULD be due to B12 deficiency. Also have your Ferritin Level and Vitamin D Level checked as well.
