Fibromyalgia Trigger Points
Diagnose Fibromyalgia
But They are Merely a Symptom

The Tender points in Fibromyalgia patients have been termed Fibromyalgia Trigger Points and have various other names. These

'Fibromyalgia Trigger Points' are tender areas, mostly on the back part of the body above the hips, that are 'tender' or painful when they are pushed or pressed.

But because a Fibromyalgia Cause seems to be elusive to most doctors and scientists, these tender points that are one of the Symptoms of Fibromyalgia, have come to be used as the primary diagnostic test!! But Fibromyalgia Trigger Points are merely SYMPTOMS of a problem!!

Researching the minute details of the blood flow, temperature and characteristics of these tender points in Fibromyalgia

patients seems to have greatly slowed further progress as to the reasons WHY so many people have these Symptoms of Fibromyalgia in the first place!

Trigger Points are Real

While no one is denying that these fibromyalgia trigger points are real and that Fibromyalgia patients experience pain, noting that a group of people experience pain in a particular way is NOT a diagnosis, it is a symptom! Few researchers seem to be trying to answer the REAL question of, "What is CAUSING this unique experience of pain in the first place."

"The American College of Rheumatology decreed that
the diagnosis could be made if the person...
exhibited pain in eleven of a potential eighteen
locations. Since that time, hundreds, if not
thousands of papers have been published... that try,
unsuccessfully, to explain the disorder."

Dr. John Sarno from 'The Divided Mind'

Well, first of all- nearly everyone experiences pain in these same trigger points, only to differing degrees. If you ask Any massage therapist, most people experience pain in these areas. And studies show that tender points in Fibromyalgia patients only have lower Threshold of pain at these points, but few people are free of pain in these points.

And massage therapists understand what doctors and researchers don't seem to- that chronic tender points on ANY body are generally an accumulation of chemicals and decreased oxygen levels that lead to a Pain Causing Dynamic in muscles. Massage, manipulation, activity and blood flow- and recognizing the connection between Stress and Fibromyalgia -often improves these tender points greatly- and sure enough, research shows that both massage and exercise are of great benefit to people with Symptoms of Fibromyalgia.

Focusing on Fibromyalgia
Trigger Points
Detracts from the Solution

Certainly, fibromyalgia trigger points are real, but instead of focusing on Diagnosing Fibromyalgia, doctors should be focusing on NOT diagnosing fibromyalgia! This is because there are many other problems that could cause these Fibromyalgia Trigger Points that doctors don't even LOOK for.

Take a look at the Fibromyalgia and Vitamin D page and you'll see that the symptoms of Fibromyalgia and Vitamin D Deficiency Osteomalacia are incredibly similar. On the Fibromyalgia and Magnesium page, you'll see that Symptoms of Fibromyalgia are almost identical to that of a condition called Latent Tetany Syndrome. On the Ribose and Fibromyalgia page, you'll see that the symptoms of a condition called Myoadenylate Deaminase Deficiency are almost exactly the same as the Symptoms of Fibromyalgia- as is a condition called TMS that is talked about more on the Stress and Fibromyalgia page.

Unfortunately, few doctors look for these problems before Diagnosing Fibromyalgia, so there have been no comparisons to whether those with these conditions have the same Fibromyalgia Trigger Points- because once these people are diagnosed, most doctors initiate the effective TREATMENTS that are available. No one is concerned about arguing over HOW the people with these other conditions EXPERIENCE their pain- they get rid of it!!

But since no one has sought to make sure that you DON'T have these problems, YOUR doctors are pushing on Fibromyalgia Trigger Points and wanting to know how you experience your pain. Wouldn't you rather your doctors argued about how to get RID of your pain than argue about how you Experience pain? Well, that will never be likely to happen as long as using Fibromyalgia Trigger Points continues to be the primary way that Fibromyalgia is diagnosed.
