Explosive Bowel Movements and Gluten Sensitivity

by David
(Mesquite, TX)

For years I have had BMs that exploded out in the morning and covered the sides of the toilet. My doctor suggested it might be lactose intolerance and I stopped drinking milk. It didn't help. Recently I have tried a low carb diet (no bread or flour products, pasta, potatoes) and everything is coming out solid.

Last night I had a bowl of cereal (shredded wheat)and guess what, Mt. Vesuvius again.

Do you think this could be Gluten Sensitivity?

Hi David,

I'm willing to bet that it is gluten sensitivity- and I think that you pretty well proved it. You'll just have to repeat your experiment and see if your theory is correct!

Yep! Same exact description happens to our family, including my 4 year old son. Today in fact, he had two pieces of birthday cake and like expected, he didn't make it to the bathroom in time... We keep off gluten, flours and most grains and have seen some unexpected improvements - gluten or grains, for that matter, do not have necessary nutrients that we can't get from meat & veggies. Good luck!
