Can H Pylori be related to loss of libido and ED?

I am a 24 yr old male, who about a year ago started to lose libido, develop eczema and fatigue. I was referred to a urologist who diagnosed me with chronic prostatitis and symptoms never decreased with over a months course of antibiotics (urologist did not find bacteria in prostatic fluid).

Many doctors later I saw a naturopath who is giving me probiotics and a limited diet. I have lost weight because of the diet but have not seen a reduction in symptoms. I still get some flare ups in eczema (though it has decreased a bit). I also have had abdominal pain from upper to about the groin area. My main concern is loss of libido. I took a stool test and came back positive for campylobacter and h pylori. Could these cause impotence and loss of libido or are they unrelated? I understand adrenal insufficiency, CFS, thyroid issues etc...and am just trying to get at the root cause.

Hi Alex,

So the first thing to know is that H pylori can cause some REALLY crazy symptoms and that the only way to really know for sure if your symptoms are due to H pylori is to get rid of the H pylori and find out.

The first thing that I would normally think is the problem is Gluten Intolerance. You say that you're on a 'limited diet' but didn't say whether or not it excluded gluten.

Also, chronic non-bacterial prostatitis is most often due to a fungal infection. This is almost never discussed or entertained by doctors despite a large study done by the Mayo Clinic on this. So make sure that you are on an anti-candida diet as well.

If eliminating the H pylori and being on a gluten free diet doesn't solve your problems, then it's time to consider a serious anti-candida/anti-fungal program.

Also, make sure that your vitamin d levels are at optimal levels as that can lead to fatigue, CFS and Fibromyalgia and can contribute to the inflammation of prostatitis.
