Can gluten intolerance be attributed to Chrons disease, if un-diagnosed for decades??

My dad has had stomach problems for years. As long as I can remember. Its gotten really bad for the past 10 years. He has been told he had IBS, Celiacs disease, Dyverticulits (spelling), and then finally, with a colonoscopy, was diagnosed with Chrons.

The problem is, I have recently been diagnosed with Celiacs. I am 27 and only been sick for about 2 years.

Can this be related????

Celiac and Gluten

Hi Lindsay,

I'm confused. You Do understand that Celiac Disease IS gluten sensitivity, right?

So, therefore your dad's gluten sensitivity (and yours) is not 'undiagnosed'- it's diagnosed gluten sensitivity.

So, if this did not answer your question, could you please rephrase it so that I can understand your question better?

I have had Chron's disease for 25 yrs I have controlled it well no surgery recently in the past year or so I am continually bloated ,more as the day progresses my abdomen is so full gassy, distended and I am more tired than usual though my blood work is fine.

I have also always been lactose intolerant..could I be becoming gluten sensitive now

You are not BECOMING gluten sensitive
by: Kerri Knox, RN- The Immune Queen!

You are not 'Becoming' gluten sensitive, you've BEEN gluten sensitive for many years. The gluten sensitivity, in part, is the REASON why you have Crohn's Disease in the first place.

You don't get Crohn's Disease without having severe Increased Intestinal Permeability and the subsequent immune dysfunction created by it that causes you to acquire the autoimmunity. You DO have gluten sensitivity and had it for years prior to your diagnosis, you just haven't recognized it.
