Best Dosage for Vitamin D Deficiency

by Jen

I recently had my blood work done and found out I'm vitamin d deficient. My doctor said my number is 10 and prescribed vitamin d2 50,000 once a week and over the counter d3 1000 IU daily. After much reading, I understand that Vitamin D3 is better absorbed by the body and should be taken with magnesium.

My question is...what would you suggest to be the best daily dosage of d3 and magnesium in order to get my number up? I go back in 3 months to have it checked. I'm not sure if height and weight plays into determining the dosage, but I'm 5'8" 130lb female. Thank you for your help and look forward to feeling good again! Thanks again!

Vit D therapy @ 50,000 iu's 1x per wk for 12 weeks

I was not optimal on Vit D3. The practitioner I had suggested I do the 50,000 IU 1 time per wek for 12 weeks, but I chose to supplement with 5000 -10,000 iu's daily (with K2) and one year after I am at 70,000 IU. Better than worrying about over dosing!
