50,000 iu twice a week

I am a female 68 years old with good bone density but vitamin d level is 9 ng/ml.

Should I be concerned about taking 50,000 iu twice a week for 3 months before rechecking level?

I read in another article that you should have your magnesium, vitamin A and vitamin K tested and take these with the vitamin D in order for it to be absorbed properly. Can you give me your thoughts on this please? Thank you!

50,000 IU Vitamin D Twice a Week
by: Kerri Knox, RN- The Immune Queen!

So, lets see- your doctor has you taking 100,000 IU's per week, that works out to be about 14,000 IU's per day.

Over the whole 3 months, that works out to be about 1,200,000 IU's total- that's one million two hundred thousand IU's.

This is an aggressive regimen, but nothing to be concerned about- particularly with your level being so low. There was a recent study on people with Multiple Sclerosis who were given on average about 14,000 IU's per day over a year long period with ZERO people getting toxicity.

In another study, they gave healthy men a total of over a million IU's in a six week period without any problems at all.

So, while you should Definitely get your levels checked after the 3 months is over, this regimen would likely be aggressive enough to actually get you into the 'Optimal' range of between 40 -80 ng/ml that researchers are recommending to prevent a whole host of diseases!!

Come back and let us know what your is after that regimen.
